The International Federation of Basque Pelota is the International Olympic Committee-recognized global governing body for Basque pelota. It establishes the rules for international competition and organises competitions. On May 19, 1929, in Buenos Aires, Argentina, the French Federation of Basque Pelota, the Spanish Federation of Basque Pelota, and the Argentinian Federation of Basque Pelota formed the International Federation of Basque Pelota.
The International Handball Federation (IHF) is the governing body for handball and beach handball. The IHF is in charge of organising handball's major international tournaments, most notably the IHF World Men's Handball Championship, which began in 1938, and the IHF World Women's Handball Championship, which began in 1957.
